xp pro - usb ports do not work

Purchased Sony FRV26 notebook with XP Home installed, USB
ports worked. Upgraded to XP Pro and have not been able to
get the USB ports to work since installation of upgrade.
Latest SP's have been installed. When the HP6110 printer
and zip100 drive are connected to the USB ports, notebook
will not recognize the devices. Both devices continue to
work on my desktop PC USB Ports. Any suggestions?

Look in Device Manager for "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" and make sure
you have USB Root Hub and USB Universal Host Controller. If you have USB
2.0, you should also have a USB Enhanced Host Controller.
