XP Pro upgrade on top of Vista

If I have a laptop with Vista Home Edition, is it possible to "upgrade" to XP
Pro? Before I buy the operating system I want to be sure it's possible and
MS will not allow you to ask questions before you purchase.
 
Going from Vista to XP is not considered an 'upgrade' - it is a downgrade.

You may be able to have both installed if you are able to figure out how to
do a dual-boot with Vista already installed and XP as the second system. The
problem here is that the usual procedure for a dual-boot is to install the
older system first, the the newer.

Google dual-boot if that is an option else you may have to just re-format
the drive and install XP.
