xp pro updates error message

Can ANYONE HELP, after recieving automatic updates with
no problem, i now keep getting the message "Window's
update cannot continue because a require service is
turned off" and gives the error number 0x8ddd0018. Have
checked and Auto update's is set to AUTOMATIC....
