stop msg. 0x0000007B (0F7B4A524, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000,
0x00000000) From the recovery console I cannot find the
directory windows\$ntservicepackuninstall$. The sp
installed in the background, It arcived, made a restore
point installed some files then was going to restart to
finnish the install. Anyone have any idea where the
uninstall directory may have been written to? Just for
grins I wore out the dir command on the 12 disk raid
tower looking through countless drives and directories to
no avail. Help I need my work station back.

standing by,
Huff

Hi Huff,

Instead of the $NtServicePackUninstall$ directory, instead try loading the
Safe mode with command prompt from the boot menu. Then run the rstrui.exe
file from C:\Windows\system32\restore directory. This will load the System
Restore GUI where you can load the pre-servicepack backup.

Unfortunately, that is the only system I can load, I ran
chkdsk, no problems, going to check for a boot sector
type virus but it still bugs me that I can't find that
unistall directory where I could batch the spunistall.txt
file.

Could be a corrupted boot.ini file as well. From the Recovery Console, you
would want to delete the existing one (del boot.ini) and create a new one
(bootcfg /rebuild).
