Some months ago Microsoft sent me a replacement CD for my original
(purchased--not--OEM) WindowsXP Pro CD which somehow got cracked and would
not run.
When I use the replacement CD to Repair my existing installation (Not using
Repair Console) to clear up problems with a Windows XP Pro installation, it
proceeds normally clear through the point where I have to input the
25-character Product Key and on to where I respond to the Windows Workgroup
dialogue, then continues to a point where it is registering components
whereupon it issues the following error message:
"Error while registering components. The procedure entry point GETIUMS could
not be located in the Dynamic Link Library MSDART.DLL."
The only option on that error is to click the OK button. That simply
redisplays the same error over & over again. If I continue clicking the OK
button for a very long time, the installation eventually continues.
However, the system really doesn't work all that well after such a bizarre
installation.
How can I get the installation to run properly?
With kindest regards,
