Hi, my friends just dowloaded service pack 2(no idea where from) and installed it on his pc. Now when he tries to get on his pc he's just getting to the log-on screen and can't get any further, he's tried to start using Safe Mode but apparently hitting the F8 key isn't doing anything and again he gets to the log-on screen with the message that he needs to activate XP. Everyhing was running ok before he installed this service pack so is there a way he can somehow restart his pc(Safe Mode or normally) and remove this service pack.
Sorry I can't be more precise but I just got a heated phone call explaining what I've just typed,
Thanks.

How to Perform a Windows XP Repair Install

If a "Repair Install" does not work, your system files are
likely hopelessly corrupted and you'll need to prepare for a
"Clean Install" of Windows XP.
