XP Pro Log On

On start up I now do not get my log in icons that were previously there for
other users of computer. Instead I get an 'old' log on screen as if I am on
a network which requires me to give User Name and Password. Following that a
screen 802.1x Authentication Status is displayed authenticating my wireless
subsystem relating to DCHP for my network. I don not have network. This log
in does not allow the usual Swich User etc. I am running Windows XP and this
appeared to happen after I downloaded KB905474 update for Windows. Do not
know if it is related.

All benefits of XP log in and switch user are not available. Does anyone
know what I might have done and what is needed to return to my usual XP
operation. I use XP Pro.

You need to go into user account controls in control panel. In there you can
re-enable the welcome screen. What you have at the moment is the classic log

Thanks. But tried to do that late yesterday and got prompt that "recently
installed programme has disabled welcome screen and fast user switching".
The only thing I did was do download Win Media 11 and Win Security Update??
Will try to uninstall security update and see what happens. Other thoughts
welcome.
