Hi all. I have an xp pro IBM laptop sp2 which just suddenly started blue
screening yesterday 5 minutes after boot. I have not installed anything new
and have run in safemode (which is fine) a full virus scan, hijackthis,
defrag and checkdisk which found no errors. I have also ran a motherboard,
memory and cpu check which are all ok. I don't get chance to see the error
but this is what it puts in the event log

The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x1000008e
(0xc0000005, 0x804e7410, 0xee5044e0, 0x00000000). A dump was saved in:
C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini032007-15.dmp.

anyone have any ideas?

Cheers Glenn

Your error is being triggered by a STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION (parameter
1 = 0xc0000005) and it originates with whatever device driver or
program component is using memory address 0x804e7410 (parameter 2)

If the web page that Will Denny referred you to does not help you to
resolve the issue then post a response back here. There is a method
of tracing this, if it is a device driver, but the procedure is a bit
complicated.

Good luck

Thanks guys for your help. I updated all drivers and even stoped almost
every service and it was still happening. I have now updated the bios and
all seem fine. Wierd!!
