XP Pro Install on all new hardware

I just put together a new PC: Intel P4 3Ghz, Intel D865PERL MB with built-in SATA Contoller, Western Digital 200Gb SATA HDD, and HP 300i DVD Writer.

When I get to the "Copying Files" part of the Windows XP Pro installation, I get file errors such as "Setup cannot copy the file: xxxx.xxx" and "The file xxxx.xxx was not copied correctly. The file setup placed on your hard drive is not a valid Windows XP image...."

I have tried loading the motherboard-specific SATA driver using the F6 method, tried all different combinations of cables and ports for the CD and HDD, and always end up with the same problems

Any ideas would be appreciated

Remove all extra hardware out of the slots, and keep the install as lean
as, only VGA card (an old S3 will be fine), one stick of RAM, one hard
drive, CD-ROM and mobo.
Zero fill the drive froma floppy to get rid of all the previous rubbish.
Do an install, and if still same problems, replace the mobo.

I just had a problem I could not solve on my own.
I asked for support from Microsoft and within less then 24 hours they e-mailed a procedure whic
solved my problem (XP was not recognizing my cd writer)
To get the support go to START>CONTROL PANEL>HELP AND SUPPORT CENTRE
GET SUPPORT>GET HELP FROM MICROSOF
You will have to get .net passport to get this help. Prompts will direct you
Best of luck, Adam
