Issue is this... during normal use of xp whether I'm using word or IE or sometimes while the machine is just sitting idle
Windows help and support will pop up. Needless to say this is VERY annoying, troublesome and time consuming. I cannot figure out why this is happening or how
I would appreciate any assistance or suggestions
I thank you in advance

Do you have "Automatic Updates" activated? If so, you can de-activate it by
r-clicking My Computer and clicking "Properties". On the Automatic Updates
tab, un-check Keep my computer up to date.

Thank you very much, I don't think that I do have this function turned on as I remember disabling it after the install.
Can you explain how or why this would have an effect like this? Or more importantly where do I find a fix, as this function needs to be on especially in a domain with a sus server.

Do you have a system administrator? If so, you should ask him/her.

I can't say for sure but, I don't think you have to have automatic updates
enabled for your setup. Just for "Grins & Giggles", check and see if you
have it turned on.

I'm having that checked as we speak, But I'm still not sure how that applies? Are you asking if the updates have been applied? All the updates were current up to 3 weeks ago.

No. The automatic updates function is probably what is causing the pop-ups
you asked about. Disable automatic updates and then from time to time,
manually check for and install updates by going to Help and Support from
your start menu and scanning for updates.

This was NOT enabled, and has never been. So I am still gettting this help and support poping up at any given moment.
