XP Pro blocking ports or something, not the Firewall

I can't connect to SETI@Home, Folding@Home, Starwars Galaxies and I'm sure other things from my Win XP Pro desktop. I have a d-link 624 router that hooks up to another desktop and wirelessly to my laptop. Its not the router cause my laptop can connect to SETI@home and I have switched routers and still have the problem. I have the ICFirewall disabled, no software firewall and all virus software turned off, what the hell is going on?

The problem could be caused by bad entries in the Hosts file. To edit
the file, enter this command in the Start | Run box, making sure to
include the "." at the end of the command:

notepad C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\Etc\Hosts.

If you find lines with the names of the sites that you can't access,
delete those lines, save the file, and try again.
