XP-Pro "access to file denied" after copy.

Hi, I have been fighting with a problem.
I have a XP-pro sp1 install. Account has my name and
administrator priv. HD is NTFS. I recently upgraded this
computer hd/motherboard. I moved xp from the old HD
and "fixed the installation" from CD.
When I copy a file to a new folder, I no longer have
access to it "Access to %file was denied". I can get
access by sharing the folder. When I tried to set
permissions/take ownership, I do not have any security
tabs so I cannot access those features.
This problem is annoying as a quick file move turns into
a hassle. Does anyone have an idea why this happens or
how to stop it? Also, why are my security tabs for the
HD/folders missing?
I could not find anything really helpful in the MS
knowledge base.
Thanks, LJJ

You need to disable simple file sharing in Folder Options control panel
to be able to see the security tab. If you want the file to maintain its
current permissions, then move the file. If you want the file to inherit
its permissions from the new folder, then cut and paste the file.
