Depends on the program. Can you specify it so we can give you a better
answer? Most modern applications should work just fine if they are written
properly, you are likely to encounter compatibility problems with programs
that do not adhere to the new user privileges in the OS.

Applications with 16 bit installers do not work on Vista x64. I recommend
you contact the software developer to find out about Vista compatibility,
updates/patches or new versions that support Vista.

Hi,

Most do, but those that use device drivers - like antivirus and CD writing
software - need to be designed and written for Vista. If you have something
specific in mind, please state what it is.

Will Xp programs run on Vista?

There are no such things as XP programs. Programs are programs. The
only question is what operating systems any particular program runs
on.

Many programs run under both XP and Vista. Some run just under XP.
Some run just under Vista. Some run under neither.

Is there a particular program or programs you want to know about?

No. XP programs will not work in Vista, but programs written for XP may well
work. Go to the software author web site for each program of choice, and
check to see if your version will run, and for patches, updates etc that
will ensure smooth running.
