XP Personal Firewall blocks Exchange UDP packets

When my personal internet firewall is active, Outlook does
not recieve notification packets from Exchange about new
email, so it sits on the server until I implicitly query
for new messages.

Can I set my firewall to allow these (and only these)
packets through?

I am not aware of any way to customize the personal firewall built into
Windows XP to allow UDP packets through. You would possibly need to use a
different firewall product. However, you can instead use the workaround
mentioned in the following article(s).
