XP password expiry reminder not appearing

N

Nick Maxwell

Hi,

I am currently running a Windows 2000 server with XP
clients. I have the password rules setup so that
passwords will expire every 45 days. However on some of
the XP computers the warning that you password will
expire in X days does not appear. As a result users are
getting locked out of their accounts when the 45 days is
up.

Any idea what settings I need to look at to change this?

Thanks in advance

Hi Nick,

First, let's upgrade Windows 2000 Group Policy for Windows XP.

307900 Upgrading Windows 2000 Group Policy for Windows XP

Then, configure the Group Policy on the Windows 2000 DC.

1. Computer Configuration > Windows Settings > Security Setings > Local
Policies > Security Options
2. Double click the "Interactive logon: Prompt user to change password
before expriation"
3. Set the day here

Wait for the policy applying or force the policy apply. This should solve
the problem.

Thanks for using Microsoft News Group!

Sincerely,
