Hi , I recently bought an ACER notebook ACER 5633-WLMI Intel core 2 duo with
Microsoft Windows Media Center 2005 . While starting I had already some
Windows showing problem in xxxxxx.exe . I immediatly thought about DEP
function (Data Prevention execution)
I modified the option in BOOT.INI file (noexecute=AlwaysOff) and I applied
required maintenance for my PC with Windows Update function .
I also applied Windows Media Center 2005 solutions ( October 2006 latest
KBxxxxxx)
I still face identical problem like Dr WATSON (drwt32.exe or logonui.exe or
whatever xxxx.exe) . What can I do ? I am thinking to get rid of Media
Center which does not work and replace it by XP Pro .
I installed BOOTVIS utility which could be useful to any specialist !
Thanks to everybody .

What is the real name "xxxxx.exe"? This is not a valid name of a Windows
application.

Doesn't this sound like malware of some kind? All you did when you
disabled DEP was to shoot the messenger...
The real cause is still around, and it is not SP2 or MCE. And, just
because the computer is brand new does not mean that it has no malware.

A couple of points.

1. Your Windows XP Media Center is basically XP Pro with added
multimedia functionality and without the ability to join a Windows
Server Domain.

2. I suggest that you discontinue usage of Dr. Watson. It is one of
the most useless pieces of crapware ever foisted onto computer users.
I cannot recall a single instance where Dr. Watson has ever made the
slightest contribution towards solving any problem whatever. I can
recall, however, numerous instances where ditching Dr. Watson greatly
facilitated the resolution of a problem, if only by allowing the
"pure" error messages to be seen instead of jumble of twisted verbiage
produced by Dr. Watson.

3. Normally errors related to DEP will result in a DEP specific error
message. And you can configure DEP to accomodate specific
applications that are not DEP compliant.

Good luck

Thanks to all , just a few more details :
1) Specifications of my PC listed by AIDA 32 v3.93
Acer 5633WLMI version 2.80 XP service pack SP2 ,
Multi CPU T5500 1.66 Ghz , 1662 MHZ
Memory /M1
SODIMM Synchronous 512 MO , size 32 bits
Memory/M2
SODIMM Synchronous 512 MO, size 32 bits

Physical Memory
Total 1022 MO
Used 462 MO
Available 559 MO
Usage 45%

Swap zone
Total 923 MO
Used 387 MO
Available 535 MO
Usage 42%

Virtual memory
Total 1945 MO
Used 849 MO
Available 1095 MO
Usage 44%

BIOS type Phoenix
System BIOS date 09/01/06
Video BIOS date 08/30/06

2) I red in the documentation
(http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms791539(d=printer).aspx

The /noexecute parameter is effective only on 32-bit-processes.It enables
software enforced DEP and,if the processor supports DEP,it also enables
hardware-enforced DEP.
On 64-bit processes,DEP is enabled by default and cannot be disabled
(equivalent to /noexecute=AlwaysOn).For these processes, the /noexecute
parameter is ignored.On a 64-bit operating system,the /noexecute parameter
affects only 32-bit processes running on the system .

Question is :
Having 2 memory SODIMM 32 bits each ,does it mean I am running 64-bit ?
If yes , even if I want to turn off the DEP , I CANNOT as explained above !!!

And at last , my son deleted the Doctor Watson programs in Windows and I am
still having this crazy message " DRWT32.EXE encountered problem and need
to be closed ( or something like that) and also a lot of messages related to
other programs or applications . This PC is crap and I think I will never
get rid of this bug , I have to send it back to reseller !

Just for fun , I will try specify /noexecute=AlwaysOff /nopae
