Hi,

I have just got a 200GB western dig HD and XP only sees 131GB of it. I
also looked in Partition Magic 8 and it says the same thing.

How can I get it to the correct size?

Thanks

Oz

1. Does you bios report the full size of the drive. Many older
computers do not have the capability of reading more than 131 GB. If it
reports the full size when booting go to Step 2. If it doesn't go to step
3.

2. You must have at least Windows SP1 installed on your computer to allow
Windows to see the full size of the drive. LBA 48 bit must also be enabled.

3. Purchase a new drive controller card for your computer's PCI slot.
Install the controller card according to the manufacturer's directions, hook
up the new drive and then partition and format with Device Manager.

Thanks.

I have a Asus TUSL2-C mobo and the Bios was 1011. It needed to be 1012
so I got that from the Asus site as well as Aflash.exe which I used to
flash the bios.

Then I went here...

http://www.48bitlba.com/enablebiglba.htm

and read what had to go into the Registry to add a line.

I did that, rebooted and whammo there was my unallocated space!

It's all AOK now.
