XP only detected 137 Gb of 250 GB HD

Help!

I have just installed a new 250 Hitachi HD. I installed the Windows XP
and it only detected it as 137 GB. I made a 40 GB partition for the XP
installation. I downloaded the latest hotfixes and SP. I verified the
atapi.sys file and it now has the correct version 5.12600.1135. I added
'EnableBigLba 1" to the registry "Atapi\Parameters" subkey. The BIOS
setup menu showed/detected the 250 GB Hitachi HD.

When I tried to format the remaining partition, the XP only detected 97
GB (137-40) instead of 210 GB. How I get the XP to detect the remaining
210 GB correctly?

Regards,
Hadi

Why can I only see 127 to 137 GBytes of my 160 GB drive in Windows XP?

you'll need to apply the SP1 or SP2 patches to get this to work. the
funniest of things was Win98SE seen all of my 160GB but XP didnt.
I tried an installation of win98SE to use all the drive and then an upgrade
installation of XP.
it's a round about way but I got it all working. if you search around you
may find a free copy of the SP2 upgrade for it was free with some magazines.

Yes, the XP home edition has SP1 and I downloaded hotfix q33198(SP2),
and the XP still shows 40GB (Drive C/partition1) and 90GB instead of
200GB for the second unformatted partition (drive D).

Run Disk Management.
Delete the second partition (logical volume).
Delete the extended partition.
Create a new extended partition encompassing the rest of the disk.
Create a new logical volume in the extended partition.
Format the logical volume.
