XP OE vs. Vista Email Program

Hi,

I currently have XP and use Outlook Express (OE). My employer is telling me
that the Vista's email program is not as robust as OE.

What are the main differences between OE and the email program that is
available with Vista? Are all the OE functions (e.g., drag and drop)
available in the Vista email program? If not, what features are not
available?

Would appreciate any help you can provide. This is a major issue between me
and current employer.

I have just got a laptop with Vista and the only difference I have found
between OE and Windows Mail is that I cannot have the list of contacts in
the bottom left corner (unless I simply haven't found how to do it). I
liked that facility in OE because it was so easy to just double click a
contact and have an addressed email open up ready to type and send.

The main difference is that Windows Mail has a better message store. It is
still sensitive to any anti-virus scanning email and adds a sensitivity to
the anti-virus scanning EML files. You really need to add this fix:
Messages may be stuck in the Outbox when you use Windows Mail on a computer
that is running Windows Vista

In addition, both Norton and McAfee appear to often cause significant
problems if they are installed. Because of the improved message store they
no longer cause the loss of all messages in a folder, but only one or a few.

Also, Windows Mail cannot access HTTP mail such as Hotmail.

Also they have removed IDENTITIES from windows mail...

ALSO they changed the way the emails are stored..

they used to be in database format in DBX files.

Then some stupid idiot @ MS thought it would be a good idea to have tens of
thousands individual files one for each email so you can search them
better.. needless to say this stupid concept has created a myriad of
problems AND slow performance when you have many emails

Tell your boss that both suck and you should use Thunderbird,
www.mozilla.com/thunderbird. It's free and much easier to back up than
OE or WM, more stable, better spell checking, prettier, and easier to
back up.
