xp not refreshing

hi there, when i make a new folder it only appears on
pressing F5, renaming the folder & copying files into the
folder is the same they only change/appear on refreshing.
anyone have any ideas

Are you certain that the folder is not being created at the very end of
the folder or file list. Pressing F5 then sorts it.

yep there's only a couple of directories there, when i

copy files into the directory they also only appear on
pressing F5. this problem only seems to occur when the
info side screen is there. when all the directories are
shown at the side (pressing the folders icon) the
problems not there?
