Hi All,
Looking through the google archives, I can see that a number of people have
had a similar problem to what I am seeing in a friends computer.
Its a new XP install, SP1, with an internal LAN card and dial-up via modem
to ISP.
Basically we cannot get basic IP connectivity to the internet, and when
running tracert, we see:
tracert 207.46.144.222
1 139ms 139ms 139ms No Resources
The route tables and DNS entries etc, all look ok (same as on a machine that
works!). Disabling the internal LAN card makes no difference.
From the archives people have suggested that this may be :
a) Related to McAfee virus scanner - removing this worked for one person
b) Associated with the removal of spyware
c) A virus of some kind.
But no-one ever seemed to post back when they solved the problem letting
those who followed in on the secret!
A search of microsofts site did not reveal anything specific to what I am
seeing either.
Hence, has anyone who may have come across this know what the problem is
and/or the solution - I'd rather not re-install but if this is necessary
then so be it!
Thanks for any help.
Ciao,
Dave.
