XP Networking Problem

I

Imran S

Hi,

I have 2 laptops. 1 is windows 2000 professional and the other xp
professional.

I have just installed a BT Voyager 2000 ADSL wireless router. Both
laptops have wireless cards. They both get out to the internet
perfectly.

The only problem is i can't get them to network successfully. I can
see the xp machine from the 2000 pro but not the other way around. I
get the following message.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Workgroup is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this
network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out
if you have access permissions.

The list of servers for this workgroup is not currently available.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

They both have TCP/IP and have file and printer sharing installed.

Please help.

Thank you

Regards,

Imran

Greetings Imran S,

Make sure the XP's firewall is disabled. If you have any third party
firewalls installed such as ZoneAlarm, Norton, or Sygate make sure it is
properly configured for the local area network. Ensure NetBIOS over TCP/IP
is enabled on all machines.

Thanks for your reply.

The firewall is disabled, and the laptops have no external firewalls
installed. The only thing i have not tried is to put netbios on the
xp machine. i will give that a go tomorrow. any other suggestions
failing that?

thanks.
