Hi Guys,
I've been having problems with my network. I have had my eye on this
newsgroup for a while and have managed to get to a point where I am
almost there, I just need your help with the rest.
I have a Laptop and desktop, both running Windows XP home SP1. The
desktop is connected to the router wired, the laptop is connected
wirelessly. Both are getting a connection to the internet with no trouble.
The trouble is. I have managed to get them file sharing, but to do this
from starting both of them up, I can't just open shared folders from my
laptop. I can ping the laptop from the desktop and visa versa, both the
ip address and name. The weird thing is, when I open a shared folder on
my laptop from my desktop, everything kicks in, and I am then able to
open shared folders from my laptop.
I used to have Sygate Personal firewall, but uninstalled it. Could
there still be something stopping this working? I am formatting at the
moment, just in case.
Thank you in advance, I'll give feedback on whether it works so others
can see. Any help would be great
