xp network problem

shenhaiou

I have two xp machines, one is xp home, one is xp pro.
I use a crossover cable to connect the computers. But
could not ping each other. The IP address of those two
computers are: 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.0.2.

I can use:

arp -a

to see other computer's IP address and MAC address, but
just could not ping each other.

I try pathping, the output is something like this:

E:\Documents and Settings\hshen>pathping 192.168.0.2

Tracing route to 192.168.0.2 over a maximum of 30 hops

Yes, I think I disable the firewalls on both machines.
And created share fold for each machine.
I do not understand why I could not ping each other.
I did the same thing on two other machines for my sister
one month ago, they can share disk and share the
Internet connection.

Any idea?

Thanks.
