Recently I added an additional desktop IBM(E-50 ) to our existing network of
4-IBM(A-50) desktops and 2-IBM Laptops (T-22).I used the network setup
wizzard as I did the first time I setup this network.

System information: (All)
Windows Xp Professional 2002
Version 5.1.2600 Build 2600 sp2

LAN-Cabled
Hub-Cisco 1538 M
Modem-Actiontec-GT701-WG
DSL-QWEST

1st.Problem-DSL modem now being accessed by all computers thru the network
hub,not thru the host computer.

2nd.Problem-DSL modem access is denied on host computer.
Message:"Internet shared computer is not configured to let network users
control or disable the shared connection."

I am denied access to the advanced tab in the modem propertys to check
status and settings as an administrator(user) and still denied as the
administrator on the host computer.

Permissions are set to allow users (administrators) and the administrator to
change network settings.Group settings are the same.

3rd.Problem-Files that were accessable on all desktops on the host computer
are mostly accessable and some are denied access.

4th.Probelm-System restore will not restore host computer to any restore
point.System restore was on and has been used in the past.

Additional problems seem to be showing up daily other then above from once a
stable system.

The problems all seem to be coming from the host computer after adding one
additional desktop using the network setup wizzard.

I hope that enough information is givin and if you need more I can post
additional information.

Any advice and a place to start would be helpfull.

Thanks

Pete

Replace hub with a router. Get rid of Internet Connection Sharing. Use
router to do NAT and set all computers to have dynamic IP's assigned by
DHCP done by router. Or you can disable the DHCP on the router if you
want static IP's on the workstations, but use the router for NAT.
