XP mode vs Classic mode - difference in speed?

My pc takes awhile to boot (several programs to load - all are necessary).
I have heard that if I change to the Classic mode, instead of using XP, my
pc will boot faster.

Can anyone tell me if there is any truth to this statement? I really don't
want to start making unnecessary changes to my pc.

Thanks,

Colleen

can't speak for that don't think it really makes a difference you can try it
yourself pretty easy!

I found that hibernation works best for a quick boot. But be aware that
programs like antivirus that might update on startup do not see hibernation
as a new startup so you might need to do it manually. I like it as I am
always logging on to check mail so I leave outlook up when I hibernate.

I don't know if it will boot faster, but I can say from experience
that turning off all of WinXP's "eye-candy" will noticeably improve
the performance of a marginal machine, such as those with a 500 MHz
(or slower) CPU and 256 Mb or less of RAM.

1) Right-click the Task Bar > Properties > Start Menu, ensure
"Classic Start menu" is selected.

2) Right-click an empty spot on the Desktop > Properties > Themes >
select "Windows Classic."

3) Right-click My Computer > Properties > Performance > Settings >
Visual Effects, ensure "Adjust for best performance" is selected.

Actually that should be "Appearance" then "Windows and buttons" drop down box, choose "Windows Classic style".
