Hi All,

I can't seem to find anything that gives a step by step instruction on how
to increase the size of the MFT. Executive software diskeeper is telling me
that 99% of the MFT is full and suggests increasing the size. I searched
Microsoft and found several references but no guide as to how to do this in
a way I could understand.

Thanks!

That capability is within Diskeeper itself. I can't remember exactly where
it is located (I use PerfectDisk) but I performed the task on another
computer about 2 months ago, from within the program itself. Suggest you
read the programs "help" section.

If you knew as much as you think you know,
You would realize that you don't know what you thought you knew!

It's a Registry value called NtfsMftZoneReservation, which has a
value range of 1-4.

The key would be found in the Registry @:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem

I would check Diskeeper's website for help and not make any
radical changes to your setup without verifying that the issue lies with
Diskeeper and not your NTFS partition. Along with that I wouldn't
change the Reservation Zone unless a Image was taken of the XP
partition first, as resizing cannot be undone (Lowered)

I don't know what diskkeeper is on about but 99% of MFT means nothing. It will grow bigger just before 100%. As long as you have diskspace. Once it grows the percentage will be lower. This is nothing for a user to think about.

You are correct!!! I went back and carefully checked the options and found
the option. It even gives you the option of taking their recommended size or
specifying your own size. The operation calls it "padding" the MFT and works
well. I don't know which versions of Diskeeper supports this but Version:
9.0.515.0 does.

Thanks to all for your help!
