XP Media Center Basic Question

I am thinking of getting an XP Media Center and was wondering if you could take the video you record off of TV and burn it onto DVDs for use in standard players

My Toshiba MCE laptop came with Sonic's MyDVD. One of it's features is burn
a DVD directly from a video input.

It says it does.... I've never used it for that.
