XP max file path

I am trying to backup a user XP Pro machine to the server and some
files are deeply nested within directories, next I tried backing up
on a USB drive and still gives errors. What is max file path in
windows including filename? Thank you

Both ntbackup.exe and robocopy.exe can cope with file+path
lengths in excess of 256 chars. Most other tools can't.
