Peer-to-peer 10 station XP pro on all
One machine hosts data for a POS program (TRS) written in visual basic.
Problem starts on file server. Windows shuts down. Then, after several
restarts on the server, other stations start doing the same.
------------------
Have tried:
Anti-virus/Anti-malware scans and programs
Format and re-install (all)
Tweeking permissions in XP disallowing all users from shutting down Windows.
Running network monitor when shutdown occurs - log reveals nothing.

I need some fresh ideas. Thanks!

Here is a real dumb thought, but I pass it along for what it is worth.
Doesn't XP have a 10-connection limit in a peer-to-peer configuration?
Since some connections are persistent, could the server be choking on
too many connections? If so, turning off some of the non-server
computers would tell you.

Thanks so much for answering!!!
Well, it's not dumb, but I DID think of that.
We never exceed 10, but on rare occasions, there are times when all ten are
connected.
However, at the moment, connecting even 1 will trigger it!!
I'm almost ready to believe in ghosts.

Sorry....didn't know.
I posted in the "general" group before I realized that it might not be seen
by the network gurus.
Thanks for the heads-up.
