Patrick

I have been using an XP machine for a number of years.

I find that the machine is fast in the morning but sometimes becomes pretty
slow in the afternoon. I have tried to shutdown and start up the machine
but there is no difference. In this way, I believe that it will not be a
memory leak problem.

On the other hand, when I shutdown the machine at night, it becomes pretty
fast in the morning again.

I just wonder whether it will be a CPU / Power Supply or HD problem ?

Thanks

Looks like an over-heating problem.

Check *all* cooling fans to be sure they are spinning properly and not full
of dust...

Pay special attention to the CPU cooler...the heat sink may very well be
full of dust

You need to open the Task Manager (Press Ctrl+Alt+Del) to check a couple of
things:
- What is the CPU loading? 10%? 50%? 100%?
- Which tasks load up the CPU?
