Microsoft needs to take a closer look at licensing of their products.
I am a registered OEM System Builder. And I keep getting all these
offers from Microsoft for free stuff when I buy copies of XP from their
authorized distributors.
The problem is... Their authorized distributors sell Windows XP for
more than I get it from my normal channels. I'm buying legitimate
copies of XP from my normal hardware distributor for $15 per copy less
than I can find it at Ingram Micro, Tech Data, MA Labs and others.
In this cut throat world of competition among system builders, $15 is a
significant amount.
While I typically build about 40 to 50 systems a year, I can't afford to
buy 10 to 20 copies of XP at a time in order to get the best discounts
from authorized distributors.
I've emailed people at the System Builder program numerous times on
this, but I've gotten nothing but canned responses that don't address my
issue.
Maybe someone from Microsoft is lurking here and will get it to the
right people/person.
