XP Language

I bought a new PC yesterday but it is configured with
French as the XP Home Operating System language. (I live
in France).

I looked at my English PC to find the route to change
these settings and modified the regional settings on the
control panel with all as english.

This made no difference, it still displays French! I have
also changed the BIOS language to English and this has no
difference.

I would be grateful for any help you can offer.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

The version of Windows XP that you're probably most familiar with is the
English version. However your computer seem to have French version of the
operating system, depending on availability in your region. Like the
English version, you can edit multilingual documents and view multilingual
Web pages in any localized version of Windows XP.

If you mostly use English, then purchase and install the English version of
Windows XP. just make sure its not in localised french langauage

Hope this helps.

With Best Regards,
Asima

*SIGH* don't people *SEARCH* anymore?! The only way to change the GUI
language is to purchase the full version of Windows in that language and to
install it clean.

Can you imagine the outcry in France if all computers were loaded with an
English version?.. can you also imagine how many cds would be needed to
supply XP in ALL languages?.. can you imagine how large the hidden
'recovery' partition would have to be such that ALL language versions could
be stored there?..

You cannot change the language of the OS. The only thing you can do is buy
an English version and install it. You can either do a clean install of it
or install it as a dual boot system.
