I am having a problem with my windows XP Pro PC. When i satrt the computer it loads up and comes to the welcome screen, then the whole computer restarts and this happans over and over again. i can not get on my computer. i placed the hard drive inside my other computer that runs on Windows 98se. I tryed using Mcafee Stigner version 2.2.5 but when it gets to a certain point on the XP hard drive the computer crashes and i have to restart. It is the same when i use Acronis PartionExpert Demo, when it comes to scaning the XP hard drive the computer crashes. When i Use Symantec W32.Blaster.Worm Fix Tool 1.0.6.1, Again when it gets to the XP hard drive it crashes only this time it says illigal operation and the following message in details is shown

Hi, Phil.
Try thes things.
0. Physically disconnect from the internet, because your machine might be a
zombie.
1. While booting, keep tapping your F8 key. Select Safe Mode when you see
the menu appear.
If it also reboots in safe mode too, then you will need to insert any XP CD,
boot from it, and carefully select that you wish to enter into the Recovery
Console. Once at the "dos" prompt, type: chkdsk /R and then go have some
coffee until it's done. Then you should be able to boot into Safe Mode the
next time; type: exit at the "dos" prompt (and press the enter key) and
start tapping the F8 key again so you can select Safe Mode.

2. Once booted into Safe Mode, click on Start and then on Run and type:
msconfig and then click ok
3. Select the Diagnostic Mode option.
4. Reboot normally, the system should come up in "normal" mode but with only
absolutely necessary things running (sort of like Safe Mode).
5. Again run msconfig. Under the Services tab, enable services that your
antivirus software needs. With AVG you will see the letters "avg" in
services it requires be running. Be carefull to assure that the service
being started is indeed associated with your antivirus software and nothing
else. In the Startup tab, carefully select the antivirus related entry or
entries (look at the path to make sure, search for the filename with Windows
Explorer then right click the found file and examine its properties to
assure it is indeed an antivirus related file).
6. Again reboot the computer normally, and then run your antivirus program.
7. When virus are eliminated, install the latest versions of Adaware-6 and
Spybot Search & Destroy. Use them in their default configurations and let
them get rid of anything they find.
8. Now run msconfig again, select Selective Startup. Then go to the Startup
tab and only enable things having to do with your antivirus program, Spybot,
and Adaware. Reboot, connect to the internet, update those 3 programs,
physically disconenct from the internet, and run those 3 programs again.
9. Your system should now be free of virus, trojans, and hijackers. You
might have to run the 3 programs in various order and with multiple reboots
to finially get rid of everything. You can now safely reconnect to the
internet.
10. Now go get and install SpywareBlaster and SpywareGuard, update them, and
activate all their protection abilities. They will help protect your IE
browser and your registry from undesired changes.
11. Now, run msconfig, and before enabling anything more in the Startup tab
list, make sure that each file listed has a known purpose to you (check the
properties of each).

Removal of unused msconfig Startup tab entries requires manual changes to
the Registry (I wish there was a utility to do this!) and it's not required,
you can just keep booting in Selective Startup mode (via the previous
msconfig setting) from now on. Take the computer to a professional if you
want those registry entries removed so that you can set msconfig for a fully
normal boot.

Best wishes, and good luck!
