hi,
i have installed vista ultimate and i like it yeah but i need to use it
on my faster pc! :) so i put in the XP MCE 2005 disc at POST " hit any key
to boot from cd/dvd" so it hit enter. some dots come up then.... VISTA loads
!! i tried a different cd/dvd drive and different cd. i have tried disabling
HDD with no avail. tried every letter on the keyboard in some vague attmept
to get it working but no luck. any ideas? my mobo is a asrock 4 core vista
cpu core 2 duo 1.86 overclocked to 3.5 each :) and an ati x1300 512mb pro
graphics and HDD 1TB. any ideas?

Are you trying to install MCE in place of Vista or in addition to Vista?
Have you considered un-overclocking your computer for the install?
Have you considered installing MCE to a different, smaller hard drive?

I'm not sure how you are set up for partitions, why the MCE
disk was unwilling to install, or why Vista booted instead.
If Vista isn't on the hard drive, it shouldn't be able to boot.
I assume you have one big partition which you need to format.

I booted safe mode (f8) to a command prompt. It looked like
Vista would let me format C: that way. I aborted the format
when it asked me for a volume label. If you have not established
a password for Administrator, you'll have to select other user,
and enter the name you've been using for yourself. Formatting
1000 GB will take a long time, but MCE should install then.
