Installing XP OEM Home version, the files copy onto the
hard drive and after coping the computer reboots for the
first time, and then I get a blank screen with a cursor in
the upper left hand corner of the screen. That is where my
installation ends. I have removed the video card, modem and
it still does the same thing. This is on a clean install.
I'm not too sure what it may be, I have cleaned the hard
drive, and reinstalled XP, but it still hangs on the
reboot. During the reboot, I get a quick look at the boot
up process of the BIOS and it states "Boot record" not
found. Any good suggestions?
Thanks in advance, shot.

Hi,

Disable the BIOS anti-virus detection scheme.

Often you have do disable "antivirus" in the bios to install XP.

This sounds like an old dos problem, when you say you cleaned your harddrive
did you "fdisk" it? Rebuild your partitions? If you did, from a dos boot
diskette run "sys c:" to reload the harddrive boot code.

Good luck! Tim
