Trying to reinstall my xp home, after a SP2 problem and I can get as far as
pressing F8 to agree terms&conditions. After that files cannot be copied to
HD. CD looks alright, tried different CD drives, no luck. Will Microsoft
give a new CD? Can I download it? What can I do?

thanks

Hi Ted,
MS will not give you a new CD even Xmas coming!! LOL.
Try and download the HDD manufacturer Diagnostic tool for your HDD drive
specs and see if the HDD is going/gone bad.
Another is to check your Memory cards, you may having a bad Memory issue
causing this problem.
Did you unattached all Peripherals from the computer ( i.e. Printer,
scanner, fax machine, modem...etc..)
HTH.
Regs,
nass

If you believe the CD is bad, copy a good CD from a friend who has the same
version. There is nothing unique about the CD except that it has to be the
same type of CD to match you license key.

To get a replacement CD, if it's retail and you have proof of purchase:

For a OEM CD you'd need to contact the vendor from whom it was obtained. In
some cases where the vendor has gone out of business MS will help.
