XP Install hangs after reboot

I am having prob with new install on SATA drive, windows
sees the news HDD, goes through install process copies
all the files then goes to reboot and hangs with black
screen, anyone with any ideas?
 
How did you format the drive?

Did you use the windows install program to do it?--Don't

Create a dos disk, and use fdisk to create a partition, then format.

I had problems with my 250GB SATA Hdd, and that is what I did, and now all
is fine.(I also first tried to use windows setup to format.

Later on when your files are installed, you can convert to ntfs if you want
to
