Dear anyone who can help me!!!,
In control panel > Add/remove programs there is a huge list of Windows XP
Hotfix - KB85673 for example! I just want to know if i can delete any of the
older ones. If i do delete any of these will my computer fail or be able to
be attacked!!??

Thank you anyone

Those hotfixes are there for a reason. To FIX weak
points in Windows or IE or OE. By removing them, you are
opening yourself up for trouble. If you happen to have
SP2 installed and feel comfortable with SP2 and feel you
do not need them, you can deleate them. But me, I keep
them even though I have SP2 installed. Better safe than
sorry. My opinion, leave them there and do NOT remove
them. Deleating them would be like leaving your keys in
the car and leaving it on the street. Just an open
invitation for something to happen.

Hi

Do *not* delete them by running them from Add/Remove Programs (ARP),
this will uninstall important security updates.

To remove the uninstall folders (and their corresponding entries in
ARP), you can use this utility by fellow MVP Doug Knox (Windows 2000
and XP):

Remove Hotfix Backup files and the Add/Remove Programs Registry Entries

These are the critical updates (mostly security-oriented) that
you've been downloading all along. Do not remove these, or you
will put back the security exposures they were designed to fix.
You can however delete their backup files. See

Those are there so you could *uninstall* the patches. Each corresponds
to a hidden folder of files needed for the purpose -
Windows\$NTUninstallQnnnnnn$ for the fix described at
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;nnnnnn

If you decide you will not want to uninstall a fix (and if all is
running smoothly you probably won't) then delete the folder. If you
then try in Add/remove, to Remove that one, it will fail, and you will
be offered the option of removing the entry there
