XP Home VPN Setup Problem

I have a user XP Home Edition that needs to setup a VPN connection across
broadband but the Network Setup Wizard will only estblish a Dialup
connection. The dialog box allowing sekection of Dialup or Internet never
appears. Is this a Home Edition problem or is there a work around.

Thanks,

Robert

Are you trying to setup the XP Home Edition machine as a VPN client or
server? I am not clear on that...

if you are installing a VPN server on a home edition, i think that will
not work but as a client, that should be very easy. I've never used Home
edition EXACTLY because not every function is available.
If nothing works, you could always use Hamachi, a VPN client from LogMeIn =)

XP Home can act as a PPTP VPN server...

We're trying to setup the box as a telecommuting VPN client. The box is
connected to a Linksys WRT54G Version 2.0 Wireless-G 2.4 GHz Broadband Router
running a home network. I need to do some more reaseach on this router and
see if the wireless connection may be the problem. I guess this is a little
more complicated than I was first told. I figured the connection was hard
wired. There appears to be some other issues with both the NIC and the dial
modem configuations.

Thanks for the responses. Sorry but it looks very much like I didn't
complete my home work before crying wolf. I guess a house call may be the
ticket. We'll get back to the forum if we can't resolve the problem.

Thanks agian.
