XP Home - Unable to access any webpage when typing URL in Address

I can type a URL in the address field and click "GO" (or hit the enter key)
but nothing will happen. No status bar, no error message. I am only able to
access web-pages with URLs stored in 'my favorites'.

please use http://www.michna.com/kb/wxnet.htm to solve this
problem.
