Hi
Wonder if anyone can help me resolve an annoying problem.
I have a Dell 8400 running XP home incl. SP2 which was fine on receipt &
initial use but over time after adding two HP printers, a Canon scanner and
software incl. Office XP Pro, MS Works 7, Norton AV, Personal Firewall &
Systemworks, Adobe Photoshop Elements 3, MS digital Image Suite etc. etc. I
keep getting a blue screen on shutting down saying 'a problem has been
detected and windows has shut down'. There is a string of numbers at the
bottom of the message (0xC0000005, 0x804E13D0, 0XAFAD38C8, 0x00000000) and
all I can do is press and hold the power button until the PC switches off.
It can also happen on re-starting.

Any ideas?

0x00000000 is sometimes associated with a Lexar USB driver that is not
compatible with XP.

Also, check the event log. Right click My Computer, Manage, Event Viewer,
and see if anything gives anymore information in System or Application.

Lastly, (this is a pain), you can start uninstalling programs one by one to
see if the problems continue to see if you can pinpoint the problem.

Actually, it has nothing whatsoever to do with a USB driver (and you're
looking at the wrong part of the error, the pertinent bit is the first
word).
