XP Home & Remembering Network Passwords

Is there any way of getting XP Home to remember a network password? Either by
changing settings on the PC or by running an application.

Please post back and give more details about the problems you are
having. XP Home is perfectly capable of remembering passwords, but you
haven't given us any details about what you mean by "a network
password", whether your computer ever did this successfully, or what
you are trying to do.

If you mean that you are trying to join a domain and being asked for a
logon, that is because XP Home can't join a domain the way XP Pro can.

We are using some laptops with Windows XP Home (bought cheap!) on a school
network. If someone with one of these laptops wants to use a printer or
access their own workspace, they need to log onto the server first.
Using Win XP Pro, when you log in to the server you have the tick box option
of saving the user ID and password. This means that the user can use the
printers and access their work area without having to log into the server
first.

If the school is on a domain, then you have your answer. While XP Home
cannot join a domain, it can use domain resources. It can't do what you
want. For our laptop program at school, we set up a network separate
from the computer lab and the rest of the school computers. We did not
make it a domain. The classrooms using the laptop program have their
own printers and file server, using only Workgroup. This way all the
kids can use XP Home and do their work and the rest of the school
computers are protected from the kids' laptops.
