I have these three problem devices which are showing up in device manager.

Apparently I need to reinstall the drivers for these devices.

I have compaq presario 2623ts celeron laptop.

I don't know what this problem actually means.

Can someone atleast tell me what these problem devices actually do?

I am downloading the 915 chipset driver from the website in the hope that
maybe that will take care of the problem.

I am not sure if that is gonna help!

It likely means that there is a problem with your chipset drivers.
You could try removing these devices, in device manager, then rebooting to
see if they reinstall correctly.
You havent used winupdate for any device drivers have you?

It did not help.

I uninstalled and rebooted the system.

Then I installed the latest drivers from the compaq site for the motherboard
drivers.

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?lc=en&cc=in&lang=en&product=1844498&dlc=en&os=228

That helped in removing the graphic problem devices.

Now, I am left with the mass storage problem device.

This is the site I downloaded drivers for motherbaord.

Can you tell me if any of the drivers in the given link relate to mass
storage controller?

Seems to be the correct site for your laptop.
Tried their FAQ's? support?
Mass Storage usually refers to USB

This link was suggested to me by a user in the forum link i gave in my first
post of this thread.

:This patch will eliminate HPH09 mass storage device error, resulting from
Iomega software, that prevents the installation of hp photosmart printer
driver version 3.3 and 3.4. If you cannot install hp photosmart printer
driver version 3.3 and 3.4 due the "IEEE 1284.4 Compatible WDM Mass Storage
Device (HPH09)" error, then this patch will help.

The problem is I am not using a printer.

I am using ipod through usb port.

The other port being used is the LAN ethernet port for adsl connection.

The problem is that I even don't know what this mass controller thingy is for!

:rolls eyes and thinks of accepting defeat:

Mass controler is for your USB device
From recollection HP have online tech support - at least they do for
printers - they may help

I got an email from compaq support.

I was gien a link to download a media card reader driver.

That solved the problem.

Thank you for your time :)
