XP Home not starting up

I upgraded my computer to Windows XP Home several months ago and have been
keeping it up to date with patches, etc. A few days ago, my PC started acting
up and I am not sure how to proceed. Everytime I try to power it up, I get to
the typical blue screen that says "Windows Starting Up..." and it hangs there
forever. Restarting in various safe modes did not have any impact. "Safe mode
with command prompt" locked up as well. Restoring to a previous state did not
help either.

As far as I can tell, I did not make any changes. Scandisk ran OK when it
started one time.

Any ideas on how to recover from this? I can't even get the Product
Registration ID to get any kind of support from MS since I can't boot up the
PC.

Thanks in advance...

If XP was pre-installed when you bought the PC, you will need to contact the vendor for support. They should be able to walk you through a repair.

If you purchased XP from a store, the package that contains the installation CD has the product key on an orangs sticker on that package.
Go to the following website for complete instructions on repairing XP.
