XP Home new install didn't erase old user

I just installed XP Home over an existing XP Pro installation. I
expected for all information on the partition to be erased. It wasn't.
The previous user's folder under Docs & Settings is still there, as
are some of the programs under Programs. However, none of the programs
appear in the Start->All Programs list. And the previous user does not
appear on the login screen.

How can I "properly" remove the old user folder, the All Program
listings, and all the associated files and registry? I really don't
want to format and reinstall.

You cannot downgrade XP Pro to XP Home, you have to clean install.
What you have finished up with is a second installation, none of your
programs, from the Pro installation will work, nor can they be moved
Clean install, after having backed up your data to external media.

That's what I was afraid of. I had really expected the installation to
give me a format option (as XP Pro did), or wipe it clean. I guess not
though. Thanks.
