I have a small peer-to-peer network consisting of 4 XP-Pros, 2
XP-Homes, 1 W2k, and 1 W98(first ed.), all wired to a switch.
The switch connects to a SMC Router/DSL Modem.
All machines connect to the internet perfectly.
'Most' machines can see each other and share the others' files
(SharedDocs) & printers.
However, X (one of the XP-Homes) and Y (one of the XP-Pros) behave
differently.
X can see all others (in the Network Neghborhood) and access the
others' files (except Y's, see below), but does not appear in any of
the others' Netw. Neighborhoods or in <cmd> <net view> and hence
cannot be accessed.
It *is fully accessible* by all others using <Run> <\\X> !
Y is visible in all others' Network Neighborhoods and <cmd> <net
view>, but double-clicking on it's icon in the Network Neghborhood, or
using <Run> <\\X>, generates an error message after some 45 secs.
All pings work fine, incl. to and from X and Y.
XP firewalls are off.
No ZoneAlarm/firewall installed anywhere.
Guest accounts are active (using <cmd> <net user guest /active:yes> ).
Can anyone please help?
