XP Home Instilation Problem

My task bar disapeared today, i couldnt get it back or
open up and display or taskbar options, so i decide to
reinstall. I put in the legit disc and choose to upgrade
rather then full install and it starts installing.
It gets to Installing Windows at 34 minutes after the
screen has flashed a few times and then the computer
stops installing, i can still move the mouse but the
instilations has stopped. Please help!!! also i cannot
get to the dos by pressing f8 wen the cpu is booting up.
how to i get to dos??

and ive removed all the hardware i dont need to run the
cpu and all my usb ports and i try to use shift+10 to get
to dos but it doesnt work!!!!

what do you need help with

XP is a bootable CD and has all the tools you need to do a full install

if doing a full install from an upgrade CD you will need a copy of a
previous version(restore CD's do not count)
