XP Home hangs during install

I have searched the postings and not found any symptoms similar to mine.
I had XP Home installed with SP2 working pretty well, with Win 98 on a
different partition using Boot Magic and Partition Majic. Had a small
problem with HP printer software and was advised to uninstall SP2, make
changes and reinstall. Did this and still had problem so decided to do away
with Win98, uninstall everything, repartition to a single partition (FAT32)
and re-install. Thats when my problems REALLY began. XP Home gets as far as
"Installing Network" with 32 minutes to go, the progress bar gets half way
and then the install hangs, right of screen loops and no progress even when
left for an hour. Have tried fdisk and format several times, but still get
to the same point in the XP Home install and then it hangs again. Have read
all the KB articles I have seen listed here, but none seem to cover the
install hanging at this particular stage. Any help or suggetsions appreciated.

If the network card is removable, try doing the setup without having it
installed, then put it in after setup completes.
