XP Home Guest Account Gone

I can't find the guest account at all on one HP Home
machine. I've looked in the User Accounts area and it's
not there. I've tried control userpassword2 and there is
no profile for the guest account. Other computers on my
network can't connect to it although it shows up in
Network Neighborhood. I'm prompted for the
computername\guest password. Any ideas on how I can
restore the guest account?

Assuming you still have a guests group, do this:

1. Create a new user account called guest with no password. Check User
cannot change password and password never expires.

2. Add guest to the Guests group and remove guest from the Users group.

I don't know if this will work, but run "control userpasswords2",
click Add, re-create the Guest account, and put it in the Other/Guests
group. You might have to start in Safe mode to do it.

Can you use System Restore to go back to before the problem occurred?

When I try that it says the Guest account already
exists. It may exist but I don't have access to it. Can
I programatically enable it?
